Preventify Funding Story: Why We Invested in India’s Preventive Healthcare Model

The Real Gap in India’s Healthcare System

When you start looking closely at healthcare delivery beyond metro cities, you’ll notice how the system exists, but it does not hold together over time.

Patients can consult doctors, access diagnostics, and purchase medicines. What is missing is continuity. Care often remains episodic, with limited follow-up, fragmented records, and no structured approach to managing conditions over time.

This becomes more relevant when seen alongside disease trends. According to recent 2025 estimates, non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and respiratory conditions contribute to over 60 percent of total mortality in India. A large share of this burden sits in Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets, where care delivery is present but not coordinated.

We found this gap to be less about infrastructure and more about how care is delivered. Preventive healthcare requires consistency, protocols, and long-term engagement, not one-time intervention.

At the same time, patient behaviour is evolving. There is increasing willingness to monitor health, engage earlier, and invest in better outcomes. What is still developing is a model that can deliver this consistently outside large hospital networks.

This is the space where Preventify is building a preventive healthcare model in India that focuses on continuity, not just access.

Early Signals We Saw in Preventify

Our initial interest came from how clearly the problem was defined.

Preventify is not approaching healthcare as a broad opportunity. The focus is specific, building standardized, protocol-driven chronic care delivery for markets where fragmentation is the default.

The second aspect we observed was the team structure.

Nirmal NR, with experience in scaling multi-city operational businesses at OYO and Zoomcar, brings a strong understanding of how to build repeatable systems. This is complemented by Dr. Rakesh, who leads clinical governance and ensures that medical protocols remain consistent across locations.

This combination of operational depth and clinical ownership is critical. One without the other rarely sustains in healthcare.

The third signal was early traction.

With three clinics operational in Kerala and over 40,000 patients served, Preventify has already demonstrated that there is demand for structured care in these markets. More importantly, this traction reflects trust, which is harder to build in healthcare than in most other categories.

We also spent time understanding how the model is designed.

The cluster-based clinic approach stood out. Instead of expanding in isolated units, the company is building tightly connected clusters that allow shared resources, better cost control, and stronger oversight. This creates the possibility of scaling without losing consistency.

Alongside this, the focus on subscription-led programs for conditions like diabetes and hypertension indicates a shift toward continuous care. This aligns with where long-term value in healthcare is created.

These signals together gave us confidence that the company is not just addressing a visible problem, but building with an understanding of its complexity.

Why We Chose to Back Preventify

Our investment decisions are shaped by how a company is building its foundation, instead of just the size of the opportunity it is entering.

In Preventify’s case, the plan to build a cluster of clinics is designed to test repeatability before scaling further. In healthcare, consistency across locations becomes more important than speed of expansion.

There is also a strong emphasis on outcomes. Protocol-driven care, structured follow-ups, and long-term patient engagement indicate that the model is built around continuity rather than one-time treatment.

We also looked at how the business is being structured from a cost perspective. By integrating clinics with diagnostics, pharmacy, and technology systems, Preventify is working toward a model that can remain sustainable as it grows.

The ₹2 crore startup funding round will support expansion of clinic clusters, strengthening of chronic care programs, and investment in systems that improve consistency across locations.

Our role extends beyond capital.

We are working closely with the team on growth strategy,  operational processes, and building a structure that can scale across markets while maintaining care quality. The focus is on helping the company move from early validation to a model that can be replicated with discipline.

From what we have observed, the next phase of healthcare growth in India will be shaped by models that bring structured, long-term care closer to where patients are, not just large centralized institutions.

Preventify is building in that direction.

For us, the decision came down to how clearly the team understands the problem, and how deliberately they are building a system that can deliver consistent outcomes at scale.
